“A little bit of smoothing and polishing can make a big difference” in the world of work said etiquette consultant Jodi Smith February 27 in her introduction to the annual “etiquette dinner” for students organized by the Office of Career Services. This “no nonsense” workshop helps prepare students for working as professionals after graduation.

People are eager to enhance their appreciation of etiquette. The event in the Forum drew twice as many participants as last year, including some faculty and staff.

Smith emphasized the importance of manners in making or breaking career opportunities. She discussed the rules and importance of gracious dining as she guided the group through a four-course meal of soup, salad, pasta and dessert.
