Faculty Hone IT Skills at Summer Institute
“The IT Institute is a must for anyone interested in becoming more creative in their classroom or online,” says Assistant Professor of Nursing Cynthia Bechtel, coordinator of the new Master of Science in Nursing program.
Director of Academic Technology Andrea Pickles held the annual IT institute August 18 to 21, giving faculty opportunities to “explore the pedagogical impact of technology on teaching and learning” and upgrade their IT skills in fast-evolving areas.
“ It was great to hear how other faculty are using technology, for example clickers, interactive syllabi, discussion in the classroom and online, blogs, Wikis, and online tests,” says Bechtel. “I have already developed an interactive syllabus and will have students using blogs this semester.”
Director of Online Programs Robin Robinson (seen above, left, with Bechtel) joined Pickles in passing on expertise to participants. “Andrea and Robin are fantastic and always available to help,” says Bechtel.
Academic Technology and Distance Education (ATDE), the Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching, Scholarship and Service (CELTSS), and the College Technology Committee (CTC) sponsored the institute.
